Welcome to my new classroom website!
Students:
Students will be given the opportunity to check out books and take AR quizzes in the media center every Wednesday. Please use this time wisely. Don't forget you can always visit the Brighton Public Library to check out AR books should you miss the opportunity in school.
New quarter for AR points started Monday 11/5. 7th grade students have a second quarter goal of 35 points while 8th grade students have a second quarter goal of 45 points. Second quarter ends 1/24, don't wait till the last minute to get all of your points!
You should be silent reading every day for at least 30 minutes. Do not forget to mark your reading logs in your green AR folders. ( Due at the end of every quarter)
Writing Journals should be completed every night. Be sure you are writing at least a page and a half each night. :)
Writing Journals are due every Monday.
Some information about me :)
I am so glad you came to visit my site. I want to share some information with all of you about myself. I graduated in 2001 from Gibraltar Carlson High School in Gibraltar, MI. After high school I attended Eastern Michigan University where I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education with a Language Arts major. I now am a proud new staff member at Scranton Middle School teaching ELA.
Directly following graduation from high school I began coaching cheerleading in the Gibraltar School District. I started coaching at the middle school level and stayed in that position for 5 years. After those 5 years I moved up to the varsity level where I coached for 6 years. In my 6 years as a varsity coach I was able to take my team to the state finals every year. I was so lucky to coach some amazing teams in my time there. Some of my team accomplishments include 4 Division 2 State Championships and 1 Division 2 State Runner-Up.
I now embark on a very exciting new journey in my life which includes teaching in the Brighton School District and also coaching cheerleading here as well. You will find me on the sidelines coaching the varsity cheer team during football and basketball seasons, and coaching the varsity competitive cheer team in the winter. I can honestly say that I could not be more proud to represent an amazing community. Go Dogs!!
